LANGAR

It is said that the langar started at Nanak ji's house, which was also continued by the visiting gurus. They used to say that whether rich or poor, upper caste or low caste, if he is hungry then definitely feed him food. Therefore the Golden Temple has four doors. Those who give the same message that whoever the person is, all four doors are open for them.

कहा जाता है कि लंगर नानक जी के घर पर ही शुरू हो गया था, जिसे आने वाले गुरुओं ने भी जारी रखा। वे कहते थे कि चाहे अमीर हो या गरीब, ऊंची जाति का हो या नीची जाति, अगर वह भूखा है तो उसे खाना जरूर खिलाओ। इसलिए स्वर्ण मंदिर में चार दरवाजे हैं। जो यही संदेश देते हैं कि व्यक्ति कोई भी हो, उनके लिए चारों दरवाजे खुले हैं।
